Copepods????

I have wat i think are copepods in my tank. They come out at night and moslty stay at sand level to about a few inches above. They are very small and white and move around like fleas. they are really quick if they want to be. I thought they were copepods but now a few of my fish are starting to wat looks like itch themselves on rocks the the tank wall.

uhm not to my knowledge but (fortumately) I haven't had very much experience with ich.

Hopefully someone that has had more experience will chime in.

Ich can show up any time but frequently is associated with your fish getting stressed. Ich is a parasite that is in the DSB and on your fish all the time and I really don't think you can see it running around in your tank. Stress can reduce the fish's slime coat which makes them more suceptable to a disease outbreak. You really didn't say if your fish have small white spots on them or small bumbs. Ich is pretty identifiable. You will know right away when you see it.

My Tangs like to itch themselves sometimes on the DSB and they don't have ich. When I add anything new to my tank I add Stress Coat for the fish which helps protect their slime coat.
