siphon break on loc line

how do you break the siphon on loc line. if i drill a hole in the loc line and then i decide to change the direction of flow i coud cover the hole. if i keep the nozzle towards the surface then i dont get the flow i need. so i drill a hole in the pvc b4 the loc line i guess, but that means that a stream will be hitting the water above the water line and splashing inside my hood with my lights. any other ideas?

You can rotate the link the hole is drilled in. That is what I do.

Add T section prior to the loc line and take a 6" section of pipe vertically above the loc-line and then back down towards the tank. Add a valve to the end that only allows air to be sucked into the pipe when the pump is off but will not let the water out when the pump is on.
