See if there are any local reefers around you with them. It only takes a couple to have your tank filled with mini brittle stars. They tend to be commensal in sponges *wink wink if you're going to hunt them out of a tank*

Usually everything is for sale at the LFS I just picked up some scoops of tank bottom to get a new 10g tank going. tons of stars and pods etc. Deffinitely cheaper than online......

I have them living in my intakes of my MaxiJet 900's??? and even a few of the arms poking out of the top of the PH's.
I need to clean my powerheads but now I can't because the stars have taken a liking to them?

how big are these micro stars? and do they aid anything? i'm sure they help move around sand and eat the stuff in it?

they are filter feeders, and you really never see them.
I have hundreds of them in my tank and all I ever see are the arms hanging out of the LR. Every now and then you can e see some really tiny ones moving across the rock in search of a bigger hole to hideout in.

The coolest thing I have ever seen was one night, lights off, something was messing with one of the stars and it was glowing bright green. I later read an article on these stars and found out they have Bio-Luminecent capabilities to fend off would be attackers and attract food. My best guess was a hermit crawling across the rock grabbed an arm and that's what made it glow!!

Pretty Cool though!
