Peppermint Shrimp - Size vs. Effectiveness?
I was wondering what your experiences are with the size of peppermint shrimp and the chances of them to be effective in eating aiptasia. My aiptaisia crop is starting to getting worse. I added 5 small peppermint shrimp to take care of them a couple months ago but they dont even touch them. I did have sucess a couple years ago when I added 2. The only diffence back then is that the 2 were large sized ones. After about 2 or 3 weeks there was no signs of aiptasia. I was wondering if the larger ones seem to have a better chance of being effective or is it just the luck of the draw. I am interestedn in getting some info on others experiences with these shrimp being effective relative to size.
thanks, Mike |

Size does not matter except for the amount one can consume in a sitting. Many shrimp or labeled as peppermint shrimp but in fact they are not. Camel shrimp is likely one but if you are on the west coast then you might have the California species and not the carribean which is what you want. There is a pattern difference if you look at details closely. I will look for the pics.
