Custom Sump and Fuge from Start to Finish with pics!

Hi All!

Thought I would post some photo's of the contruction and end product of a sump and fuge I designed. I based the design off Melev's site - design I:

http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/s...p_model_i.html

The skimmer is performing much better pulling out about 50ml of dark green skimmate a day - about twice what it was doing before.

I added the algae about two days ago to the fuge and it seems to be OK for the moment.

Overall I am pretty happy with the whole setup now, the baffles allow me to put bags of carbon in and the extra overall water volume has added about 30 gals to my setup.

I got the acrylic cut to size by a local plastics shop and my Dad helped me glue it all together as he is a builder by trade.

All questions, comments welcome.

Nice job. You may wish to drill a siphon break hole vs. using a check valve instead.

Thanks, I have thought about putting a siphon hole in, for the moment the check valve is working well so I might leave it for the time being.

Thanks Monkey_Bone, actually the funny thing is, we have enough acrylic left over to do another whole sump and fuge. I told him he should put an add in the paper advertising custom sumps etc.. he wasnt keen though.
