Barnacles, Good or Bad?

I recently bought some African Blue Xenia and it came on a piece of LR. Along with the Xenia came some barnacles as hitch hikers. Anybody know if barnacles are good or bad. Either way, they're cool looking!

I had one a while back as a hitchiker on a conch's shell. I was told that it was harmless but unfortunately unlikely to live long. As far as I can tell that was accurate. It looked cool, hurt nothing, and then died.

I think they will eventually die because their isn't enough food in the water for them, (filter feeders). Or am I wrong?

I hope they live for a while. It would be really cool if they would reproduce. But it sounds like that may be a long shot.

are they on the sides of the torch or do they seem to grow right on the end of the torch where all the flesh is. cause there is a type that lives at the tips of torches and the like. Ill post a pic of one when i get the chance.
