OT: Any scuba divers here? Anyone interested diving the St. Lawrence on the weekends?
Just wondering if anuone is interested in diving the ship wrecks of the St. Lawrence on the weekends, semi-regularly this summer?

damn.......I would kill to do that. We go just north of there for vacation and I LOVE the area. One more reason to get scuba certified.
On another note, we're refitting my parents boat for downrigging and other various trolling just for that region. I will catch a muskie before I die. I'll be spending many weekends up there , but probably next summer (possibly this summer later)

Hey Fat-Tony if you are into Muskie fishing you could also try Wanenita and Lamoka (sp) Lakes. They are both smaller lakes SW of Kueka lake. The DEC used to stock them with Muskies, I have hooked a couple smaller ones. but nothing big.

Damn you Doug. Damn you..
No, not yet.... ($$$$ still). Caught a Muskie down in Chautauqua lake. Felt like hooking into a boat anchor! - Mac |

My wife and I just got our open water certifications while on our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I'm not sure I'll be able to get up there this year, but I love the 1000 Island area and would be interested next year...need to scrounge up some $$$ to get some of my own gear!

For the last couple years I've been making an end of summer trip up there to do some wreck diving, and i have another one planned for the end of August. I have to say, after doing a lot of dives on wrecks in lake Erie, where the water is 42 degrees at the bottom even in the middle of summer, diving in the 1000 Islands area is wonderful. the water is very clear, the temperature is fairly constant to the bottom, and (some of) the wrecks are as good as (some of) the wrecks in the Lake. I'd love to do more diving up there, but summer is so short that i can't usually get up there more than once or twice a year.
