what do you think of this lighting?
tank is a 40B (36lx18wx16h)... think i should be able to keep pretty much whatever as far as lighting goes? i have plenty of LR and a deep sand bed... nothing would be more than ~12-13" below the surface of the water and i think the light mounts a few inches above the tank

ya, i dont see why not...but you can get better stuff for cheaper...just look under the selling/trading/want to buy forums halfway down the page on the forum list page...tons of lighting goes up for sale in there.

im not much on putting things like this together... would rather buy a complete, self contained unit... and always skeptical of buying used electrical stuff... new stuff has warranties

yes true...i'm no good w/putting things together either, but i bought a retrofit from a guy i met on here...he's close by me and i deal w/him quite a bit, so i know he wont give me garbage, and if it breaks, he'll help me fix it...i also get a TON of freebies lol.
but i met him on the local club forum down at the bottom of the forum list...if you havent checked there...go for it..lots of people areound you sell stuff but i do know what you mean about it being easier if its just a whole unit..and nicer looking..thats what i'm gonna do on my 40 tha i'm converting
