Sea shells for refugium structure?
Hey guys, just wondering if sea shells are ok for use in a refugium. Making a trip to carolina beach soon and was just gonna pick up a bunch to throw in my fuge for some structure for pods. Also wondering if the small (1 inch or smaller) muscles/clams at the beach are safe. Ive heard somewhere that 'sand fleas' are not safe to put in a tank . . was just wondering about those.

alive or dead? if alive the mussles/clams will not live and pollute your system.
as far as shells go I think it would be okay but I still would sterilize it to be safe ... just boil it in a pot of water. Shells are great for refugiums, a regular old pod motel. |
