Cheap online place to buy PC bulbs (65w straight pin)
Do you all know of a good place online where I can buy "cheaper" PC light bulbs. I need the 65w kind.
Whats a better brand (if I have a choice)? Also, what spectrum would you recommend for the Derasa clam and of course for the soft corals, and polyps I have. I want to bring their color. THANKS!

Can I get these bulbs or have to stick to Odyssea?
I would think Coralife is better right: http://www.marineandreef.com/shoppro...eLampsCor.html
Or am I stuck to only getting cheap odyssea bulbs? Marine Depot says: Replacement PC bulbs for your lighting system by Current USA, Hamilton or Realux. But I am using the Odyssea 260w PC fixture. WIll it still work if I choose the right wattage (65w - I believe 22")? I found these but don't know if they are any good: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=PC5653 http://www.petsupplyliquidator.com/h...wrcompacts.htm http://www.aquacon.com/powercompactbulbs.html

Do these 65w bulbs work in a Odyssea fixture?
Just saw these CURRENT brand: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produ...A&N=2004+113346
Are they any good? These would work in a Odyssea fixture right? I need the square pin, and these are squared bin. Anyone?

If they're square pin, and the right wattage, the bulbs should work. I'd probably go for a mix of 10,000 K and the 10,000 K-actinic combo.

Sunpaq vs Odyssea? (420NM vs. 450NM???)
As in two: 6700ºK/10000ºK 65W
And two: 10000ºK/Actinic 460nm 65W ??????????????????????????????????? I was thinking of two: 420/460nm 65W And two: 6700ºK/10000ºK 65W Now these are SunPaq. Are they better than the Jebo PC bulbs? Would anyone know what Jebo's (Odyssea bulbs) spectrum is? I have been told the actinics are not true actinics. So what are they? And what about the non-actinic bulbs that come with that "infamous" fixture? They appear kinda yellow when by themselves, so what do you think they are? The reason I chose two Actinics was that I really want to make my corals illuminate while I have all lights on, and not just by themselves. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fellow RC member gave me this link: http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/index.php?cPath=45_56 Now whats the difference between Actinic 420NM and 450NM?

Just saw that Hellolights carry some bulbs too. They are more expensive, but are they beter quality? They state that their TRU actinic is truly actnic and not a blue bulb. Would you say that their 10K and Actinics bulbs are better than the cheaper SunPaqs?

I've got SunPaq's 10k/actinic 2x65watt combo on my 20gal. and i couldn't be more pleased. They run well and i don't have any heat issues.

Well this is what they offer:
65 watt – 22" SunPaq Dual Daylight 6700°K/10000°K SmartPaq Dual Daylight 10000°K/Actinic 460nm SunPaq Dual Actinic 420/460nm I was thinking two 10000°K/Actinic 460nm and two Dual Actinic 420/460nm. Don't know if I want to get the 6700°K/10000°K, MIGHT have too much yellow right? How would my setup look with what I choose (not too bright because I did not choose the 6700K?

Stick with the 10k's and regular or dual actinics.
The 6,7 k combo on my JBJ 65 watter mixed with actinics gave too much of a purple light. Similar to a gro-lux bulb you'd use for plants. Yuch. |
