Help! Battery operated themometer fell into the tank
It seems I'm always asking questions here on the chemistry forum. Thanks to all who have helped me in the past (i.e. Randy )
Last night everything was fine. I laid the battery operated thermometer on top of the sump and went to bed. This morning, I wanted to check the temperature and noticed it wasn't where I had placed it. Upon further investigation, I found it INSIDE the water. I estimate about 8 hours may have passed (at most). I opened up the back case, and a thick red layer of rust was on the battery. How bad is this for my aquarium? I suspect that it is very bad. Currently I only have 3 fish and a few LPS corals in there with all the live rock. |

I would not worry but run some carbon to be safe.

I don't think you need to go that far
