Exclamation Snail out-fo-water

Quick question. I recently moved from an apartment and into a house. After the move and the careful acclimation of my fish, snails, crabs, etc. one of my snails has been coming out of the water and actually outside the tank, on the side of my HOB protein skimmer. I put it back in, but the next day when I came home from work, it was out again and was dry like it was out for awhile. It was still alive.

Why is my snail doing this? Is it stressed? What's going on. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Some snails are intertidal, they live at the edge of the waterline. They're often sold in the hobby although they're inappropriate for reef tanks. Wait until you step on one 5' from the tank and feel it crunch under your foot.

sounds like a Nerite snail. it will continually follow it's own tracks back out of the tank each morning. if you scan the tank at night, he's likely cruising the tank. clean up the snail trail that's outside the tank and he may stop at the trim.

Do Banded Trochus Snails do that too, because that is what is doing it? I don't have any Nerite snails.

I have a margarita that likes the waterline but not so much going beyond that luckily.

I am positive that it is a banded trochus snail. It has always been at the waterline from time to time... this is the first that it has been completely out of the water for a long period of time like that. I would post a pic of the snail, but I just moved into a house and do not yet have internet. Right now I am at the university library studying and doing internet related things that I need to do, like RC!

Any other input? I thank the input that I have received so far.
