Yellow Tangs, Sailfin Tangs
It is said that Sailfin Tangs should not be kept with Tangs similar in shape to them, namely Yellow Tangs. Is anybody keeping Sailfins, and Yellow Tangs together with good results? If yes how many are you keeping of each fish?

I have 3 yellow, 3 regal, 1 purple and a sailfin. They share a 180 gal. and seem to get along. They line up for a clip feed and the most agressive is the purple.

Did you add them all at the same time? Where can I buy seaweed to feed my Tang, and does it store well?

I added them at start up and within a few days of each other. Best place to get seaweed is at your local sushi store. Dried can be kept anywhere.

I have one red sea sail fin and a purple tang together, both added at the same time, no problems with them.

They are all about 2" in length. I have 2 small mountains of LR and they spread living in both. See my photos for the landscape. They seem fine with no real battles.

You can buy nori(dried seaweed) at the Asian market. Or at a grocery store. It will be much cheaper than buying it at a pet store. I buy 50 8" X 8" sheets in a package for about $5.00. Whereas the stuff in the LFS is 10 3"X5" for about $3.50. You just have to read the package to make sure there is no seasoning added, as this is the stuff they use for sushi. |

I was going to say the same thing for the nori. Tangs love it.

I had a purple for about 2 years when I added a sailfin. The sailfin was much bigger so I though that might defuse aggression from the purple. It worked. They have never fought and it's been about a year now.
