cleaner crew...
I have a 30g cube just getting done with its cycle and now i'm wondering what all of you suggest for a cleaner crew? My plan with this tank is to make it a reef tank, so reef friendly cleaners are preferred. I want to get a peppermint shrimp to help clean up the aiptasia that I already have in there, but what are some other suggestions?

I would start out with snails and hermit crabs. They will help you out with alot of soon to be algae outbreaks you will have which is normal.
I would get some Astrea snails for the glass andf the LR. Some Cerith, nassarious snails, nerite snails for the sand bed, glass and rockwork. Get a decent amount, not all will make it. I like the blue legged hermit crabs they seem to be peaceful and are great cleaners. For the shrimp I would wait until the tank is stabile, 2 to 3 months after it cycles should be enough. You just want to make sure that the tanks water parameterws wont shift, since shrimp are real sensitive to any changes and good water quality to thrive. For snails I would get this myself. Astrea snails: 10 Cerith snails: 6 Nerite sanils:6 Nassarious snails:6 Blue legged hermits: 15 to 20 to start, some wont make it, see how they do, if you think they ned some help, go get a few more. |
