Rock rubble. Build piles for the pods to breed in. Deep stacks behind the reef work well. Feed phytoplankton. I really like live brands like DT's. That feeds your pods. If you have a refugium, they love chateomorpha algae. If you don't have a fuge, set up a 10 g tank with a small power compact light, some rock rubble, and an airstone. You can always use some Ocean Pods or Tigger Pods to boost your initial population. Pods tend to tag along in the chateo and rock rubble too. Take some of the chaeto from your fuge and shake it over your tank. You'll see the pods fall off and scramble for cover.

If there's any floss filter in the system where you work, check there for pods. Also, refugiums are great for breeding pods.

I have a ton of the shrimp looking pods in my sump. I have a little chaeto and a lot of LR rubble and they seem to flourish. I wanted to introduce more so i bought the tigger pods (about $20 for a very small amount), put them in and to tell you the truth i dont really think it did much good. However i typically run any lights over my sump/fuge.... so that could be a problem.
When i first started i had a bloom of thousands of tiny little copopods in main tank. After adding fish, they are now all but nonexistant. The sump is the only place they dwell now.

The shrimp looking pods are mysis. I have them ALL over my fuge/rock chamber, as well as the main tank. I never see them in the main tank except at night when Im snooping around, their eyes glow all over the place uner rock edges in holes under shelfs ........... I wasted my money on the "tiger pods" too, don't feel bad ......... I run my fuge lights the opposite of my main lights. My main lights are on for 9hrs total, so my fuge lights are off for 9hrs, and on for 15hrs, so that's not a problem. ......... As said above, for copepods and amphipods, do the rock rubble piles, and start dosing Phytoplankton. Myself, I use Two Little Fishes Phyto plan per instructions for my tank size 3x a week..... HTH Good Luck and Happy Reefing! Brianna

I did the tigger pod thing when I started my fuge and they are teeming, in my fuge, in my tank and in my sump.

Make sure not to get any fish that will eat your pods, like a 6-line wrasse.
