RODI Unit broken, help

I just replaced all the filters and the DI unit in my 24 gpd RODI unit. I've isolated my problem to be the hose going into/coming out of the DI portion. I've verified that it is placed in there correctly since they only allow flow one way.

Oh yeah, I guess I should say what my problem is, currently all the water is being discarded, there is no water making it through the DI unit to the color changing resin bed. Every thing is new - I'm baffled. Is there anything I should double check?

Thanks

The tube could be stoped up that allows the ro/di water to come out.

I tried blowing/breathing through that and I was able to, so I think I've ruled that out, could the DI cartridge be bad?

A friend of mine had the same problem today. It turned out that he did not seat the membrane correct which caused the water to flow right through. Just a shot that may help.

is there anyway to check that it's seated correctly? It looked like it only went in one way, and that's the way I inserted it!

The gasket end should be closest to the screw cap, meaning the other end goes in first.. It is important to push the membrane all the way in.

also you should check to see if you have a flow restrictor in your waste line you say you replaced all the filters did you replace the ro membrane?

I don't have a flow restrictor on it right now - I didn't have one before I replaced all of the cartridges/filters! It's the Kent 4-stage 24gpd and the new RO membrane is 25 gallons per day - does this require that I use a flow restrictor?

I double checked that the gasket end is closest to the screw cap and that the membrane is fully in and seated.

Yes, I did replace the RO membrane. Currently I put the old one back in and everything is working fine, but it should be replaced.

thanks!

It has to have a flow restrictor or it won't work at all. If you don't see one it probably a capillary restrictor inside the waste line that you can't see. To make sure the membrane is seated all the way pull it out and wet the rubber sealing surfaces and o-rings or better yet wipe a very light film of food grade silicone grease on them and push it back in tightly. I use silicone grease on all my o-rings and get it at the local homebrewing shop where it is used to seal keg o-rings.
