???'s about dt's

Every time I feed dt's to my tank the next day i have ammonia and nitrates detectable in my tank. does that mean that the dt's isnt any good? has anyone else had this issue? the dt's smells horrible!

If it smells horrible, its probably bad.

You're going to have nutrient spikes feeding phyto anyways though... pretty much only clams and gorgonians eat it.

DT's must be kept in the refridgerator at all times. if not, it dies and creates the smell you are experiencing. discontinue use and discard what you have left. it should have very faint smell to it if any. that would be my explanation of your description. good luck & REEF-ON!
