Source For "white" Moonlights?
I'm looking for the "white" style moonlights similar to the ones installed in Orbit and other lighting fixtures. It's simply personal preference, but I like their effect much better.
I have a set of (3) dimmable blue moonlights installed in my canopy right now that do a good job, but I'd like to make the change to the white ones. I've looked around quite a bit, and can only find the blue versions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Current USA Lunar Light is available in white. I used one of these on my 55g before, but switched out for blue instead. Marine Depot has them if you want to look (item code CU01650 in case the link doesn't work)

Sweet. Thanx Rob. How bright was it?

funkyman: at the time, 1 of the lunar lights (which contains 2 leds side-by-side) seemed ok for my 55g, but in hind sight I think 2 would have worked better. I replaced them with 2 of the 1w blue led's and like the coverage better. With just the 1 lunar light over a 3 foot long tank, the sides were not fully illuminated.
BTW, one cool thing about the lunar lights is the 'link' function, where you can string multiple lunar lights together & only have to use 1 power supply. Wish all lunar lights had that feature, as those transformers take up more than 1 outlet on my powerstrips due to size. |

oh, to actually answer your question about brightness, compared to the 1w blue led's I have now, the white lunar light to me seem much less intense/bright. I could see the stuff inside the tank, but it was much like trying to find your way down a path at night illuminated only by moonlight. I personally like the blue led look better, but in comparison I think the white lunar light is probably a better simulation of the moon for both color and intensity/brightness. In my case, I was more concerned about ease of viewing at night and the way the blue leds make the corals glow...selfish me

Thanx for the information. I like the link feature too.
I posted this same question in another forum, and was also informed of another good source, so I thought I'd share it here. http://www.superbrightleds.com/ |
