Top Fathom

Hi,

I got this skimmer second hand, but I didnĀ“t find the correct way to tunning correctly.

Please if someone can give a hand, or let me know where can I find a manual of this skimmer, I really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Top phathom are pretty outdated skimmers. The pump you choose to run is important. Being a venturi driven skimmer, you need a pump that is pressure rated for it to work good.

I have a 200A model and I converted it to a recirculating skimmer it does okay but because the neck is so narrow it still isn't as good as what a similiar sized ASM or Euroreef would do. In additional it's not very easy to clean.

All in all, in my humble opinion you probably better off just getting another skimmer and never using this one.

I have the model 100A.

Can you post pictures of your mods?

I have a better skimmer, but I am waiting the pump to arrive to handle it.

By this moment, I need to use the TF.

Just take a look at asmskimmer.com at the recirculating mod. Same exact thing just doing it to the top fathom skimmer body. 100A is probably not a real good candidate because it is so short.

If your just waiting, probably best not to spend the money to do the mod. Just do larger water changes in the meantime until your new skimmer is ready.
