Ammonia Neutralizers

Anybody ever use these. I know water changes are the best, but what about when ammonia is spiking in between changes? Would this be okay to use until the water changes?

Cycle your tank. You won't need anything to remove ammonia.

Once your tank is cycled, you shouldn't have ANY ammonia or nitrite. It may take several weeks to cycle. Patience is a MUST in this hobby. Good luck.

I have had my tank for two months now. Everything has been at zero and maintained for 7 of those weeks. I added three fish and four corals 4 days ago. The ammonia isnt at danger level: .2, but Im concerned that if I let it go until Saturday when I will change the water, it might rise to dangerous levels. It seems things can happen overnight with salt water tanks.
Today I topped off and changed the filter. That seems to have dropped it a bit, and I have some water getting ready for a water change. If I have to, I will do a late night emergency change :-) (I work loong hours)
Something doesnt set right with me when I think about adding one of those ammonia neutralizers to my tank. I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried those.

They work I guess, although they can mess with certain test kit readings. I tried to use some in my QT setup before it had cycled properly, and to make a long story short, I still had to wait for the cycle to complete. I had a LOT fo amonia though. If you cycled and you're just not caught up with your bioload, Amquel or something similar should be OK, and it should help.
