Hydor FLO Rotating Deflector

This is the add on piece to power heads, does it work or is it a waste of money.
Anybody have experience with this product, does it get clogged with coraline algae, and have to be replaced every year?

Yes they work, and they will have to be cleaned out every so often. They also reduce the flow of the powerhead in my experience.

I have 4 with MaxiJet 1200's. About 1 weeks total use (I came across a deal on a Tunze).

80 bucks shipped for everything

IME a waste of money. They do create some nice random turbulence WHEN they work. Mine stopped rotating after 9 months. The plastic track was apparently worn down/stripped and would not spin anymore.

Nice concept but bad design. To many delicate moving little parts to break.

I have had two running on MJ1200 for over a year. Every 5 months or so I soak them in vinegar and clean them. I haven't had any problems with them. They are great for such a small price.

They are cheap, and thats why I was wondering if they even worked.

I planned on having to clean them twice a year or so along with my pump and powerheads so thats not a problem, seems that most of you have had good luck with them.

Would it be ok on a MJ 600, or would it constrict the flow too much to where I should get the 900?

thankx
