That is quite a lot of tangs you got there!! How do you deal with the aggression and territoriality? Especially considering you have some very pugnacious specimins, ie. the purple tang, THE most aggressive zebrasomid and the powder blue, a notably feisty acanthurid, bound to quarrel with the regals in there due ti similar colouration. Personally, if was stocking a 210 gal with tangs, id go with no more than 3-4 not 7. Especially with a sohal which will grow to need 250 Gal at least, IMHO.

Ciaran.

Thanks guys,

Actually they all get along very well. The tank is 7ft long and with over 300lbs of rock there is alot of places to hide.

There are 3 yellows, Three Regals,1sailfin,1 purple,1 sohal, 1 powder blue

Just in case the tang police are listening.

tangs shouldn't have to be hiding, they prefer to swim in the open and not be harassed. agree with ciarin, no more than 4 in a 210; i wouldn't put a sohal in anything less than 500

hey salineh2o i feel you there. People will have their opionions on this subject. You can look at my list below and these tangs have been together over 2 yrs. No aggression issues. I feel the top thing to consider when keeping these many tangs together is food! keep them feed and it helps. YOu wouldnt believe how much nori and lettecue and brocclli i go through with these guys! love the tangs to death and good luck in the future with your tank

I agree but i still think there are some limitations... I wouldn't keep a sohal tang with other tangs in anything less then 600gallons or more.

How big is yours? Why do you say its not happy? Once its get really big it could take its aggression out on your others tang until there is no more...

unfortunately, the fact is that everybody on this website contributes to multi-million dollar business.

This business harvests animals from there natural habitats by poisining them or scraping them out of the ocean with nets, even worse some are stunned with dynamite so the fish trade can scoop them up for our enjoyment.Even better they are produced in mass quantities, never knowing what it is klike to be in the wild.

I recently read that over 30% of fish that are taken from the Reefs die while in the hands of Wholesalers around the world.

This does not include Retailers or our tanks. So when we say that "Tangs should have room to swim" I agree, they should have the entire Red Sea!!!!

And if it makes you feel better ,thinking that an extra two or three feet for that fish to swim in makes it alright then you are in heavy denial.....................

I want nothing more than my fish to be healthy and happy. As you can see ,They are healthy. Unfortunately none of us can really say that they know they are happy.

Great post, and for the most part, I agree.

I do think you're overstocked with Tangs for your tank, but if you keep them all healthy, more power to you.

NO tank is big enough, these fish are used to the multi trillion gallon tank our hobby takes them from.

yes very true, none of our tanks can even come close to the real thing. Look at the georiga aquarium, they have the largest fish on mother earth in an aquarium!!!!
as far as the shoal, i totally agree. shoals are very very very aggressive fish and need a huge and i talking 500 and up range. good post everyone!!!
