Help Identify Brown Stuff

Does anyone know what this stuff is and how do you get rid of it? It spreading and have done 2 water changes in a week and has not helped.
The tank is about 6 months old.

Looks like some kind of macroalgae. (seaweed)

It's a calcerous algae. I can't remember the name of it. It's a pain in the rear. I've lost many frags to it because of it's tremendous growth rate compared to that of newly acquired frags. I lost a frag of about 15 Tub's Blue Zoanthids to it.

Looks to be Lobophora variegata.

same here, http://www.saltcorner.com/sections/g...Lvariegata.htm . Astraea Snails are supposed to eat it. but if its that over grown you may need to clean up the rock by hand and let the snails clean the rest.

This stuff is really attached to the rock. Any tips on how to get rid of it or just grip it and rip it?

thats probably going to be your best bet. just be sure to wear some rubber gloves. im not saying this stuff is toxic, but you never know, nor do you know whats living around it. so play it safe!
