Lighting Deep Tanks
Would a 250 watt halide penetrate to the bottom of 29 inch deep tank well enough for a squamosa clam???

works well in a 24" deep tank for me, and the bulb is 8" from the water...

For a Squamosa, sure does. Have mine in an 18" deep tank with only 226w of PCs so you should be fine.

what would be better.... running a 400 watt halide or 2 175 watt halides? If you follow the old x watts of light per x gallons of water rule then this should be a decent amount of light. Even though the 2 175 watt halides would give me a total of 350 watts they will not have the same penetration rate will they?? And thats what I need with a deep tank is further penetration. Is this right???

i would throw the watts per gallon rule out the window for a 29inch high tank you want 250watt nothing less 400 if you really want no worries on what you can keep on the very bottom....
