question about sump

hey do you know if you have a sump at the bottom of the main tank, does that mena you can have more fish, becuase you will have more water volume

Not necessarily. It can be good to have larger water volume if you have fish that produce a lot of waste, but you will still have the same territorial, cramping, et cetera, issues in the display if you overstock.

The amount of fish you can have depends on:

Biological filter capacity
Swimming room
dissolved oxygen
compatibility
help me out guys, what else?

Anyway, the sump volume of water helps with one aspect. More water dilutes pollutants caused by fish waste. So more volume allows more fish because the system can handle more waste (mostly nitrate). But you still have the other issues.

ok thanks, my system is a FOWLR and i am getting all best equipment for the sump, so that it can cope with the tangs

A 180 gallon is a perfect size for tangs

On such a tank, I would recommend a sump of course, mainly because you will be getting bigger equipment which clutters up your tank. Sumps make stuff look better, and a lot of the bigger equipment needs to sit in a sump.
