Its a mixed bag. Some say its no better then a DSB in your sump. Then some say that its the greatest thing next to sliced bread. I've been looking into using it after seeing a guys 180gal that has been running on it for about 18 months. It looks great. I'm sure that someone that has used it can chime in and give some thoughts on it.

I found it to be necessary only if you're growing any type plants in your sump. Otherwise, you should just use regular ol' sand! Just my $.02
