How to seed base rock?
my friend gave me 1 large base rock about 10+ lbs. he said i should put some live rocks on it to seed. do i have to do that or i can just drop it in the tank without contact with my live rocks?

They just need to be in the same tank.

will become ALIVE when it it is put in a established tank--does not need to be touching live rock

Having it touch live rock might help just ever so slightly, but in no way is it necessary.
