2 Day water cycle
Back when i had my first 120g tank i was working at a pet store that sold fish... i set my tank up and dumped about 1 pint of bacteria from the pet store filter system, i monitored my toxin levels, my tank cycled in 2 days flat.. that tank was freshwater at the point though..
im curious if i were to take a couple tablespoons of bacteria from a friends tank (toxin free) and put them under my sand bed when im setting up the tank if it would be safe considering im making a reef tank?.. i know it will cycle quick but just not sure about safety for corals in the future etc... |

how are you going to get this concentrated bacteria?
do you mean tank water? sand? i would not trust a 2 day cycle at all. Nothing good ever happens quick in this hobby. |

mainly scrape some muck off a filter pad thats what we did before but we used ALOT in my last tank for the 2day cycle...
im aiming for a less than 2 week cycle.. doesnt have to be 2 days :P |

if you try to make things happen fast, you'll end up in trouble real quick

I probably wouldn't bother, but if you want to try it, I'd add the bacteria into the filter. Burying the bacteria under the sand will kill them. For my tanks, I use only live rock, live sand, and algae for ammonia filtration, so this approach wouldn't be useful for my setups.
