differences in orp and ph probes
I know next to nothing about this subject. I am using a pinpoint ph contoller and a Red Sea Ozonizer with built-in Redox controller. I am contemplating purchasing new probes for both. First question would have to be; Do I need to change probes after 1 yr? 2nd would be; The price spread is tremendous in terms of ORP probes. I would presume that any ORP probe with a BNC plug would work with the ozonizer. But I have found a price spread from 39.99 for a Milwaukee probe to 110 for the same Red Sea probe and then up from there. Is there significant differences between the low-end and the high-end? I know there is, but is someone who really does not require lab-grade equip, going to notice the differences?

Yes, there is a difference with the probes. More expensive (higher quality) ones will TEND TO have a longer lifespan. An inexpensive probe may last just as long, but some will need replacing in 2 months. Higher cost probes are no garuntee to longer life. Get a standardizing solution and cleaning solution for your probe and use them once a week- no matter what you buy. Buy the probe that fits your budget, but I would say not to strain it for the most expensive model.
