Skimmer efficiency

I have an in sump Tunze Comline 9015 skimmer in my 120l QT tank with three fish in. With only 3 small fish in and NOTHING else @ SG 1.009 , should I expect dark green scum or is the slightly tainted watery substance been skimmed OK?

Your bio-load is really small so I'd say it's ok. However, you may want to raise your SG

The skimmer's efficacy will be greatly reduced with a low specific gravity, as GlobaLPimP said. However, the benefits of the oxygentation from the protein skimmer are high.

I am doing hyposalinity - thus the low SG.

I was already aware of that when you mentioned the 1.009 and QT. I was just making sure that you were aware that the skimmer will not perform very well at that level, so don't expect too much from it.

The "slightly tainted watery substance" is a result of the hypo and the small bioload. There is no problem with it.
