Did my LFS hurt this coral?

Hi all. I'm looking for advice on how to handle a problem.

This last monday I bought a large hammer coral from a LFS in Costa Mesa, CA. They packaged it in a large double plastic bag but left practically no airspace when they closed the bag. Every other coral I have purchased is always filled with air before the bag is sealed. At the time, I thought is was strange, but I did not say anything because I figured these guys knew what they were doing. I took the coral home that afternoon and had it my tank within 2 hours after following my normal acclimation process.

Unfortunately, this coral is doing very poorly. It has yet to open up and I'm afraid I will lose it.

So my question is: Is it OK to package a coral without any airspace above the water, or will this harm the coral? Should I demand a refund from this store?

no air at all? i don't know the biology or chemistry of it, but I imagine that it is certainly less than ideal.

corals take a while to get acclimated to ur take...

they dont just open in like an hour or so.

i had to wait like 2 weeks or more till mine opened up..

be patient.. im sure its fine.

When I worked at a LFS I would always make sure to leave no air at the top, keeps people from setting the bag down and leaving the coral exposed to air on the ride home.
