thanks premium aquatics - 25lbs nano rock

Premium aquatics never seems to stop impressing me. I just got an aquapod 24 last week. It's been sitting with just live sand and salt water. Was going to get live rock locally. However, after seeing the 300lbs of marshall island in my 260 gallon reef tank, i decided to go with premium aquatics again for live rock.

Here's a shot of 25lbs of nano rock from premium aquatics (keep in mind i just threw it in and after levels settle down, I will have to redo the aquascape):

thanks again PA!!! you guys are AWESOME!!!

Looks like some great shapes for mounting corals to.

Is it all Marshall?

Dan

hey stereomandan,

most of the rock is marshall island. maybe 2-3 pieces of fiji. not much coralline coverage but very clean rock. don't think it's 100% cured. just keeping an eye on ammonia, nitrites, nitrate levels for now. very pleased with the rock though. still cheaper per pound than LFS's around here carrying marshall island and this was shipped direct to my door.

happy reefing!!!

I am new to all this, Is live rock supposed to be white and clean like that? That is not how it looks at LFS.
If so can you explain why?

Thanks

Scotty, the key to the LR is that it is highly populated with the bacteria that you need to break down detritus and release it from the tank. Even if the rock appears bare it is probably full of these bacteria.

Some live rock can have more outward signs of life than others, e.g. more corraline algae, more hitchikers etc, but the real reason LR is needed is for the bacteria.

it will look a little white at first, a little die off, but the 600 lbs. i got from premium aquatics was by far the best, now it looks like a big purple blob
