I have a 90 gal tank with about 90 lb of rock. My 5" powder blue tang has died and I can't find him anywhere in the tank. I moved half the rock so I could see in the back but could not find him. The last I saw him was yesterday evening. He's too big for the crabs to have eaten him that qiuck. Other than completely moving all the rock and coral is it OK to leave him in there?

Did you check behind the tank? Maybe he jumped - sometimes they can be hard to see if they do that.
Watch your ammonia levels for a spike - you may need to do a few water changes if he is decomposing in the tank. Sorry for your loss. ![]()

If the crabs have not eaten it all yet, I would remove what ever is left. The left overs rotting away will cause an ammo spike, and may cause more harm to others in the tank.

If you've got enough bristleworms you'll be ok. If not, stand by with carbon.

Keep testing the water, but I had a 6" Naso die in my tank one night a few years back.
By morning all that was left was the skeleton, those clean up critters don't mess around!

I had a 4in Flame Angel die and within a matter of hours, all but the bones were gone. All I saw was a mountain of shells and a hint of the tail fin. It's incredible how fast a clean up crew works.
