Thinking of a RODI unit but have questions.
Hello, I'm thinking of getting an RODI unit but worried about the amount of water I will waste and how much my water bill will go up. Is there any way to reduce the amount of water I will waste and does anyone have a ballpark fiqure how much my water bill will go up? I have a 125 gal and a 55 gal sw tank.

You will waste more than you make. Many others have found ways to recycle the waste water. You can use it to fill your washing machine, water your lawn, wash your car, etc. I currently am running 2 75 gallons which is close to what your total volume is. I top off maybe a gallon each tank a day ( more in the summer months) and a water change bi weekly. Water isnt too expensive I dont think your bill should increase too much. My RO/DI doesnt run 24/7 I just turn it on and off when I need it.

I use about 1000 gallons a month between my two tanks for evaporation, water changes, and RO waste. At about $2.00 per HCF-750 gallons- water costs me less than $2.50 a month for my aquariums. Showers, toilets and washing machines use alot more.

If you made 200 gallons of RO/DI per month which you probably will not just for water changes and evaporation, you would waste 800 gallons. So 200+800=1000 gallons total or in Phoenix about $2 worth of water total. Thats at a 4:1 waste ratio which is normal for most units.
