What Heater to buy-suggestions, exp needed
Now that summer is almost over, its time to start thinking about heaters again. I have tried quite a few brands over the years and I am looking for suggestions/experiences folks have had. I (like everyone else) used and got burned by the won titanium heaters...they are dreadful. I dont want to go through so much trail and error again. Right now I am running 2 glass ebo-jagers in my sump however I would prefer an unbreakable heater in there. Someone must make a good titanium or stainless steel heater....right?
FWIW, the Ebo-jagers have worked 100% since I got them last spring. They keep the temp within 1 degree of their setting (one is actually set 2 degrees lower than the other so I can pick up on a failure.

I have a Won Bros Pro Heat II and am very impressed with it. It is 300w and I think I paid 40.00 for it. It has a digital controller and the heater is housed in a titanium case. Not bad for 40.00!

Glad its working for you....I will keep that in mind though at this point I am a little too shell-shocked (and have been literally shocked by them) to invest in any more Won Bros. products.

I've use the Ebo's, but they seemed to 'stick' over time. I've got a Won Bro's Pro Heat now, but it is on a Ranco temp. controller. I have it set 2 degrees above what the tank is, and let the Ranco do all the work.
I would highly recommend investing in a temp. controller. If i didn't have the won bro's heater, I'd probably get another ebo since i've got the controller now. |
