Keeping Substrate / Gravel Clean

I have an algae bloom on the surface of my gravel in the bottom of my tank. It is deep enough that I really don't want to disturb it (Nitrate removal etc). Does anyone know of what I can put in the tank livestock wise to eat and eradicate the algae and make my gravel white again? I already have a sea hare and a couple of sand sifting starfish but they are not really cleaning up the gravel.

I think time will ge your best bet. If your nutrient export is ahead of the nutrient import it will clean up on its own. If you have a DSB (Sand depth greater than 4 inches.) then I would not disturb the sand. If it is a shallow sand bed then it probably won't hurt especially if you have enough live rock. I would wait it out and be careful of my feeding and make sure the skimmer works well.

If you have a sump I would grow some macro algae, this will help alot.

Regards,

Pat
