Are there inverts or fish that eat xenia?

I have a pom pom xenia outbreak in my tank. Its starting to move towards my sps corals. I was curious, is there any fish or inverts that eat this stuff that won't bother the other corals.

I have xenia in the fuge so I am not worried about ridding the xenia in the tank. I just don't want it to spread to existing corals. Although it looks pleasing to the eye, eventually it will spread completly over the exising corals.

Anyone offer any tips.... I tried kalk paste with NO success. I usually snip it but as others have stated the pieces I could NOT suck up that were cut landed other places in the tank and rooted.... ARGGG

Its going to be hard to pull the rocks out that do have it on them because they are so deep in the tank and supporting other rocks....

Any help!

THanks
Spankey

If it tastes like it smeels, I don't think any fish will touch it. I just slowly peel back the base and try not to tear it. If you tear it it will grow faster.

If I remember I had a racoon butterfly that ate the normal xenia but I am unsure about pom pom xenia. However the racoon would snip at other corals too that is why I won't do that fish again....

No others.....

I believe a yellow tail damsel will eat it as I have given some to 2 different people who have a damsel and both times it disappeared in 2 days and the damsel kept picking at the rock it was on. Not sure though if you want to put one of those DEVILS in your tank though.

I doubt the damsel has anything to do with it, I had yellow tail damsel in my tank they don't bother anything. I have the same problem too, I was thinking a copperband, maybe. I read on another thread that they nip at it not sure if it eats it thoug. I think the thread is in the reef safe forum.

Maybe a holocanthus angel? It would be tough squeezing one of those into a 46 though.

You could always introduce a Eunice species worm. But, it won't stop eating just the Xenia. Also, it would be extremely difficult, but you might be able to find a Dorid or Aeolid Nudibranch that would eat them.

I've read about arrow crabs eating xenia, although I've never witnessed it.

Urchins will occasionally take a liking to them. I just sold my urchin because of this. He was eating a 3" stalk everyday!
