i need a better way to reduce the amount of micro bubbles going into my display tank....any ideas...bioballs, sponges and poly fiber just in for temp. purpases and still not doing a good job. I started out making the left half of the sump like the acrylic "All Glass Aquarium" brand sumps you can buy, with the bubble chamber and then supposed to overflow into a tray that can be clean weekly or even daily but got impatient and set it up before i got that far....still thinking of building the tray idea but my skimmer is in the way for easy daily cleaning. Ill try and find a pic of the sump im talking about.

I think the tray would also help reduce the noise of the water splashing....plus i can get rid of all the media you all are going to tell me i shouldnt have in there.

I like the look of your sump but have to admit I don't like that skimmer... I've seena ton of them and they usually do a poor job at doing their job. I also worry about the pump you're using for it.. a Rio? Those same skimmers have been used by a couple people in my area only to later have it crack and fry the tank.
I also see you have a lot of floss in your system.. I would probably add more baffles to your sump to help with the micro bubbles. You could also try to find a mod for that skimmer to help reduce it's output of micro-bubbles.. HTH

Electrobes: i have been having a heating problem since i setup this sump/refuge. Not to sure the cause, maybe the rio and the quiet one 4000 high head(ambaratur). My temp is usually aroung 80 and its now running 83-84.
