sump flow vs. fuge flow
Hi,
does the water flowing through the fuge have to be slower than the water flowing through the sump. The reason i am asking is because i am putting together my sump and want to know if i should put the return in the middle and have the ruge on the right and the skimm/overlow on the left or should i just put the return on the right and have everything flowing in one direction . which also make my life much easier in regards to the plumbing etc.. |

Yes
Melev suggests about 5x flow through the sum and about 3x flow through fuge - I like that as well http://www.melevsreef.com/ |

I prefer reversed, lower flow through sump, slightly higher through fuge. I prefer crap to settle in the sump where there are no critters/algae/sand. All depending on fuge and sump size, or course.
