Sorry no pic. It looks like a carnation and is purple with red all around the edges. It jus poped up out of the blue on my HOB filter discharge area. I cant find anything that looks like this. Im just looking for any ideas that i can look in to. Thank you for helping.

"It looks like a carnation" -- do you mean a carnation coral, or the flower? If it looks like a flower, sort of ruffled, and it's an animal that moves around, it's possible it's a sea slug.

got a size reference? The size of a pencil lead, an eraser or a full carnation flower? Not that I can think of much in any of these sizes.

Try looking here. Look at the purple nudibranch see if it looks similar. This is a great site for getting an ID.

There are 2 of them and from side to side each are about 1 inch. no it never has moved. Not a purple nudibranch. What is that in your pic affan? it started to pop up about 1.5 months ago and is growing. It looks really cool and would make a great decoration. I plan on ditching the filter that it is growing on right now but i dont know how to take it off and attach it to a piece of live rock.

Well, jdoe#2, it appears you've hit on one of the fun things about this hobby--trying to figure out just what the heck it is that popped up. I can't think of a think I've run into that sounds like yours. A pic may help. Good luck finding an answer.
