Aiptasia by Pulsating Excenia HELP !
I have some Aiptasia right by my Pulsating Excenia, I have some Joe's Juice that I have used in the past. But my concern is that it is touching each other and I don't want to kill my Excenia. I was told by the LFS that I can't use the joe's juice that close to corals.
Any Ideas on what I can do to get rid of it. |

i have heard the following:
get a very thin syringe and fill it with a high alkaline paste and then simply inject a little bit of it right into the step of the aiptasia. this should localize the dose. this is second hand information, though.

I use kalkwasser, it kills aiptasia in no time flat. I mix up a thick paste, then turn off the pumps and use a pipette/syringe to bury the aiptasia in paste. After a minute or so I use the pipette to suck up the remaining paste, then turn the pumps back on and voila!
In your case, if the Xenia and aiptasia are too close for your comfort, you could try placing a piece of LR rubble (or a shell, large rock, tile, piece of glass, just about anything will do) next to the coral (nearly touching the stalk). It should climb onto the new substrate within a few days, leaving more room to deal with the anemone. The same technique sometimes works with aiptasia -- people have had luck placing rubble on top of them, then removing the rubble from the tank, complete with pest anemone, after the anemone climbs onto it seeking more light.
