50/50 lighting?

What is 50/50 lighting? Is it good for LPS and soft corals? Any pics of people using it over their tanks?

50/50 lighting is a equal combination of actinic (blue lighting) and either 6500k or 10000k lighting. It provides a balance, pleasant blue spectrum. Coral can be grown with this spectrum. But more important to coral health is the quantity and placement of the lighting. I recommend you read some of the many reef lighting articles before you invest in your first coral. hope this helps

Thanks. I was looking at 96 watts of compact flourescent over a 10 gallon. Its a quad coralife fixture and it came with a 50/50 bulb, didn't know if it was good or not.

So, its pleasent on the eyes?
