Remora Aqua C Protein Skimmer break-in
Hi
Does anyone have a Remora Aqua C Protein Skimmer? I was wondering how long it takes to start cranking. It's starting to produce foam and it is collecting a little in the cup but my Nitrates don't seem to be going down. |

How long have you had it running. I had one that made skimate in about two days. As for nitrate a skimmer does not remove nitrate from you system. A skimmer removes organic material that will decompose into nitrate.

You'll need to do some water changes to get the nitrates down. The skimmer will help to prevent the nitrates from forming in the first place.
Mine took about two weeks before it was running really well. Then when it starts to fizzle out again, it is time to clean it. Good Luck! |

I'm almost at 2 weeks with Remora. The second week produced at least twice as much, perhaps three times the skimmate as the first week.
