what was he sick with? could be you are going to contaminate your "Sterile" tank with ??

Use fish food, much safer IMO,

I would dump the current water
Refill with clean water and add 10 drops of bleach per gallon
Drain, dry and start over

I would think that it would cause you to contaminate your QT tank also. Use fish food, a peice of shrimp, or something else that isn't sick and won't potentially get any specimen that gets QTed sick.

I would tear down the quarantine tank and sterilize it. I agree with using fish food or the like to get the filter going. You could also keep one going that way, if that's convenient.

Ya, better to be safe then sorry. Get the fish out of there, tear it down and sterilize. A weak bleach solution will work. Just rinse thoroughly and use a dechlorinator after the rinse. Sorry for the loss of your fishy. That always sucks.

Just make sure it is dry, dechlorination is not needed as the bleach is gone when the tank is dry. The 10 drops per gallon is double what food service prep uses
