overflow box modifying

I am using a CPR CS202 Overflow Box; can I cut the front part which is the main tank water level and make it shorter?

I don’t have pics to display but let me try and explain, i fixed the overflow on the tank and the water level is still too high all I can do is raise the overflow box. So I thought if I cut the front part and made it shorter it would be fine.

My question is .. If I do cut the front part will the siphon still work? Or is it worthless and the water will still be at the same level?

CPR's dont have a adjustable frount level like most but modifying can help by cutting groves or teeth in the frount panal but here it the problem to watch out for if you cut them too deep you will have a low tank you need to cut a little at a time to get the water level where you want it and on every cut you will need to let the system equalize for a hr or 2 after cut but yes this is the only way to fix that problem just dont cut too much at a time and take your time

Reefing is'nt how long you been in it. It is how deep you get in it.

Current Tank Info: 400g display build, 300g sump, 75g ATO, 75g refug and a few more. Close to a 1000g. 200g mixing station.
