Snails Galore

Whenever I rinse my filter pads out I always find a few of these very tiny snails on them. I never thought much of it but tonight when I was checking out my tank with a flashlight after bedtime I found there are tons of them (just a little exaggeration there!) in my tank. Also, noticed 2 snails w/o shells? Is that possible? And will all of those little buggers hurt anything?

depends on what kind of snails they are. take a look here.

im guessing the little ones are probably going to be Collonista snails. harmless little night time algae grazers.

the ones without a shell could be Stomatella varia.

I'm pretty sure the larger ones I spotted are the Stomatella. I'll have to grab up one of the other smaller types and take a look at there underside as there are a couple options. Regardless, those sites are great resources. Thanks, Paintbug.
