GSP and mushrooms together?
I have a single mushroom that's doing pretty good. I'm going to be getting a frag or two (small ones) of some green star polyps. I hear these things can grow over other corals, particularly SPS. Would they pose a problem by growing over my mushroom? Or will they grow around it? Also, my LFS said that my twin strip light (30W total, 15W daylight 10000k, 15W actinic) would handle most corals that weren't overly light demanding. Would I be able to handle GSP with this lighting? I figure it probably won't grow like a weed because of the lower lighting, but I would guess it should be okay. I just want to be sure. Hence why I'm asking!
I realize it's not the BEST lighting, but I do plan to upgrade in the future to a larger tank with T-5's, but that won't be for a little while and my tank is looking pretty bare. I don't want to stick more money into a tank I won't be keeping long-term if I can avoid it, and I can't afford to buy T-5's for it, so I'd probably get PC's if necessary. Thanks! |

imo, you wouldnt be able to do gsp w/that lighting. But i wouldnt be too worried about the mushroom and gsp. My gsp stopped growing about a half inch from my mushroom and just started growing the other way.

lights quite low....might want to think about changing the combo...maybe go with 2 15W 50/50...ot just 2 14K
put the GSP at the very top..... imo |
