question about new MH fixture i just purchased

maybe i should have re-searched this more before buying but..

I just just purchased Hamiltons 250 watt reefstar for my 37 gallon tank ( 30x12x22 ).

The Orbits 30" PC fixture i had just wasn't cutting it for me or at least for what i wanted in my tank as far as corals and also my tank is fairly deep at 22 inchs.

So now i just test ran the fixture ( haven't created a mount for it yet ) and it produces alot of heat.

My question is from the water surface of my tank, how high should the MH be inch wise.

If anybody with experiance with a 250 watt MH or this particular MH could give me a holler that would be greatly appriciated.

The closer the better but if it raises the temp to high you might want to move it. If you have alot of air movement it might let you get it closer.6 to 8 inches usualy
