Korallin 3002 set up tips..
I just bought a Korallin 3002 Calcium reactor and I am going to set up on my 75 gallon.
I have never set up a calcium reactor but I have friends that have; and besides just relying on them, I would also love to hear any input you guys can give me on it. Where should i plump it through, should i get a pH probe(korallin says i dont need one), any relavant info. on it. I would really love to hear info. from anyone that may be running one of these reactors. So let me hear it! |

What media do you intend on using, the ARM or Koralith? Mainly since each media has a different pH where it starts breaking down. A pH probe can be useful for the initial setup phase, but its very possible to not use one. Simply adjust for the baseline bubble and effulent drip rate (not sure what those are on the 3002), and monitor your tank parameters after a day, then adjust as needed.

I would highly recomend a PH probe. I just bought a use Korallin 1501 for my 75gal, and I have been testing both the effluent and the tank PH twice a day. Just set it up yesterday.
You will burn through PH tests pretty quick without one, and since you want the effluent to be 6.5-6.7 and the tank to be 8.1-8.3 you wil need a PH test for the high end, and a second test for the low end. But the short answer is, you don't need it. You should read this post it will help. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showt...043#post6681043 Good Luck! Looks like we are in this together.
