Garden hose?

Is this ok to use for changing water? Given that the ends would be cut off.

Use new and only for the tank.
If you live in a house above natural grade, fill the hose partly with water, put one end in the tank, hold the other above tank water line, go outside, drop hose below water line, and the water in the hose will cause suction, thus draining the tank without sucking on a hose manually. Note: saltwater kills grass and will inhibit it's growth for some time.

Thanks. I wanted a long hose to pump from RO/DI water to my tank.

Good to know that salt water kills grass. I can kill the areas without buying expensive chemicals.

Will saltwater kill ivy????

I HATE IVY!!!

I will have to try that on my next water change, I usually just let it go down the utility sink drain to my grey water pit (NOT my septic!). We have tried POISON ivy killer on this stuff and it just will not go away!
